Of 1050 hardened and tempored spring steel. Etched and gilt borders.

The bowl of the helmet is raised from one plate of steel. The visor and sides of the helmet are punched with slots for ventilation. The pomme is gilt wood.

This helmet is based on a helmet and armour for Philip the Ist., son of Maximillian the Ist. The original is in Vienna and is a very curious armour. It has many late 15th c. features but also shows many features that will be commonplace to the early 16th c. The wrapper was reconstructed based on other armours such as Henry the 8th silvered and gilt armour.

The original armour that my replica is based on. It is in Vienna and dates from the 1490s. I am reproducing the rest of the armour as well and it is almost finished.
